Gap Year Program – Medical Assistant Track
Starting June 2026
Are you a recent graduate or pre-health student seeking meaningful clinical experience before pursuing advanced healthcare education?
Our Gap Year Program is a dedicated pathway for motivated individuals hoping to deepen their clinical skills, gain hands-on exposure in dermatology, and build strong mentorship relationships within a private practice setting — ideal for future nurses, PAs, or physicians.
Program Highlights
- ✓ Immersive Clinical Experience: Work side-by-side with our dermatologist, physician assistants, nurses, and experienced clinical staff to develop core skills in patient care, dermatologic procedures, clinical documentation, and workflow management. Like similar gap year programs in dermatology, participants can expect real-world immersion in a fast-paced outpatient setting with opportunities to grow competence and confidence before medical or graduate school.
- ✓ Mentorship & Professional Development: Receive one-on-one mentorship from clinical leaders who are invested in your growth. Learn about patient management, procedural support, and how high-quality dermatologic care is delivered from consultation through follow-up.
- ✓ Hands-On Learning: Assist with rooming patients and setting up for procedures, support providers during treatments, practice electronic medical record (EMR) documentation, strengthen patient communication and team collaboration, and explore the administrative side of practice operations.
Who Should Apply:
This program is ideal for recent college graduates or students taking a gap year who:
- Are interested in healthcare careers (medicine, nursing, PA, etc.)
- Want to gain substantive clinical experience before applying to advanced programs
- Have strong communication skills, curiosity, and a commitment to patient-centered care
Program Duration & Expectations:
We offer 14 month or 26 month positions to align with pre-professional application timelines. Participants will be expected to contribute to daily clinical functions while learning through meaningful involvement in care delivery.
