PRP is FDA cleared in orthopedics for the preparation of bone graft, but many physicians around the country have found it useful for other purposes. While not FDA cleared, a number of studies have shown it to be useful for familial forms of hair loss, and in fact, one study shows that many patients prefer scalp injections of PRP to topical minoxidil.
