Community Outreach and Volunteerism

Since starting our independent practice in 2018, we have been embraced by the Hamptons community, and proudly choose to give back to local arts and health organizations. In 2023 alone, Halsey Dermatology has provided over $20,000 in direct monetary support and sponsorships to community organizations including the Watermill Center, LongHouse, Bay Street Theatre, Hamptons International Film Festival, Southampton Hospital Foundation, and Bellevue Hospital dermatology education programs in NYC. Halsey Dermatology has provided thousands more in donations in-kind to support other local organizations at charity auctions and other events.

Dr. Mark Halsey regularly volunteers at Bellevue Hospital Center in NYC, treating recent child immigrants and other children who are underinsured or have limited access to healthcare. He is one of only roughly 300 fellowship-trained board-certified pediatric dermatologists in the entire United States, with his pediatric training occurring at arguably two of the most respected hospitals in the world, Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. Botox and Botulinum Toxins

Dr. Halsey and Ashton Wilson have extensive experience in using Botox and other brands of botulinum toxin to address facial wrinkles. Halsey Dermatology offers Daxxify, Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau. As a Revance Prestige Partner, we now offer Daxxify, the newest toxin to become FDA approved.

Simply put, botulinum toxins like Botox soften facial wrinkles by reducing the tone and strength of the muscles that are causing them. When these muscles are relaxed the wrinkles become less prominent or are eliminated.

The exact length of the effect depends on the patient, but most patients get between 3-4 months of benefit. We anticipate that Daxi, when it becomes available will have a longer approved duration. Our office will be one of the first to offer this new product.

Dr. Mark Halsey will discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives to botulinum toxin with you at your consultation. Nonetheless, most patients experience little to no side effects and are quite pleased with their results.

That’s a great question. Our office carries all brands of cosmetic use botulinum toxin as a convenience to our patients, knowing that patients who have experience with botulinum toxin may already have a preference. Dr. Halsey has experience with all four brands of toxin approved for cosmetic use, and can help you select what’s best for you.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

For deeper wrinkles, sagging skin, flattened lips, and other forms of volume loss, Dr. Halsey is an expert in the use of facial fillers, including hyaluronic acids such as Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Versa, and Belotero. Most importantly, his office purchases only authentic products directly from the manufacturer's offical US representative, never any knock-offs or imports. The safety and comfort of our patients always comes first and foremost.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance made by cells in our bodies. It has a remarkable ability to hold onto water, making it useful to plump up skin and restore lost volume.

In aesthetics, hyaluronic acid picks up where botulinum leaves off. Hyaluronic acids address wrinkles and sagging skin that occur when facial fat and volume is lost. These remarkable gels can also be used to rehydrate the surface of the skin with a microdroplet technique.

While it may vary, hyaluronic acid fillers generally last between 8 months and 2 years, depending on the exact product and the location it is placed.

The selection of the product depends on the location the product is being placed. We carry a wide selection of products, from Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Versa, and RHA. We will gladly help the selection of the product that would best address any particular issue.

One of the greatest things about hyaluronic acid fillers is that the result is immediate — a response is seen with each injection.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are FDA approved, and generally considered safe. All medical procedures have risks, and while patients may experience some discomfort and potential bruising, significant side effects are rare. A thorough discussion of risks, benefits and alternatives will be part of your hyaluronic acid filler visit.

Other Injectables

In addition to botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid fillers, we offer other cosmetic treatments for hair and skin rejuvenation including Kybella, Asclera, Regenlabs PRP, and minoxidil/dutasteride injectables.

Kybella
Asclera
Regenlab

Kybella is an injectable medication that ousts unwanted fat cells. It is effective at improving the appearance and profile of mild to moderate fat below the chin (submental fat).

Asclera is an injectable medication used to treat unwanted spider veins of the legs.

RegenLab's PRP system is used by top physicians worldwide for its outstanding technology and safety record. PRP is a solution containing plasma and platelets separated from a patient’s own blood. Platelets contain important growth factors which become part of PRP solution. PRP can be used off-label to rejuvenate the skin and improve hair growth.

For male and female pattern hair loss, we offer custom injectable forms of minoxidil and dutasteride sourced from a sterile compounding pharmacy to inject into the scalp to increase hair growth and strengthen hair follicles. While not yet FDA-approved in injectable forms, studies have shown these medications to provide strong results, with a favorable side effect profile.

Lasers and Devices

Dr. Halsey offers in-office treatments using a number of laser and devices to address pigment, wrinkles, skin irregularities, blood vessels, birthmarks, benign skin lesions, unwanted hair, and other skin issues. Device-based treatments for male and female pattern hair loss are also available.

Fractional laser rejuvenation is a technique whereby a laser delivers energy to fractions or columns of the skin, leaving surrounding skin spared. The advantage of this technique is that with surrounding unaffected skin, these small treated columns of skin heal quickly, reducing unwanted downtime and leading to a more comfortable and manageable recovery.

Our practice offers each form of fractional laser rejuvenation — ablative and non-ablative, both of which we recommend depending on the needs of each patient. Our ablative rejuvenation technology is able to stimulate new columns of skin to form by breaking through the surface of the skin and penetrating as deep as the dermis (the second layer of skin). Ablative lasers create more dramatic effects, but with a longer recovery. Meanwhile, non-ablative technology stimulates new skin to form in a similar fashion, but without breaking the stratum corneum (the uppermost barrier layer of the skin). This technology often allows for a shorter recovery period.

RF Microneedling is an innovative technique used to rejuvenate the skin’s underlying collagen layer with remarkable results. RF microneedling involves using a device (Virtue RF) to insert very fine needles into the skin. Energy is then delivered to the tips of the needles, stimulating the collagen fibers deep in the skin to grow and thicken over the subsequent weeks. Patients love the enhanced thickness and elasticity of their skin. We usually recommend a series of 3 treatments, spaced apart by 3-4 weeks.

Our RF microneedling system, Virtue RF, is the latest and greatest device from the same designers of the Vivace, one of the first and most successful RF microneedling devices available. The Virtue RF distinguishes itself by gentle, quiet and comfortable needle insertion, and a wider array of settings to cater to each patient's needs.

With Virtue RF, a numbing cream is applied, and treatment begins thereafter. Often pressure and a warm sensation is felt during treatment. Downtime is usually minimal, with the treated area usually returning from slightly pink after treatment back to baseline within 24 hours. Mineral based makeup and sunscreen can be worn as soon as the following day.

Glacial Rx is an innovative facial and sun spot treatment system using technology developed at MGH, where Dr. Halsey began his medical training. It uses the power of cold to treat sun spots and reduce pigment production. During a Glacial Rx treatment, the skin is rejuvenated using a combination of serums, masks, and a specially designed skin cooling tip. This proprietary system is soothing and relaxing, delivering the power of a laser with the comfort of a facial. It is an easy and comfortable way to even skin tone and soften the skin any time of year, even in the summer.

Intense Pulsed Light is a rejuvenating treatment for the skin utilizing white (visible) light to treat unwanted brown pigment and fine vessels / redness in the skin.

IPL treats unwanted pigment and redness with minimal downtime. Most patients have temporary facial redness that lasts approximately 24 hours. Brown spots are typically somewhat darker until flaking off one to two weeks later.

PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. PRP is a solution containing plasma and platelets separated from a patient’s own blood. Platelets are involved in wound healing and clotting, and contain important growth factors. While PRP was first studied for use to aid in mixing bone graft materials, dermatologists and other hair loss specialists have found FDA-cleared PRP systems to have other off-label uses, including for male and female pattern hair loss. We use only the highest quality FDA-cleared sterile PRP tubes produced in Switzerland by RegenLabs. Schedule your consultation to discuss treatment options for hair loss that are best for you.

Similar to most medical procedures, laser and device-based treatments do carry risks and benefits. These will be discussed with you at length at your consultation to empower you to make sound choices for treating your skin.
